In winter Snow chains compulsory

To travel on a snow-covered section of road where a panel indicates “équipements spéciaux obligatoires”, it is compulsory to equip at least two drive wheels with snow chains. To do so, you must stop in one of the lay-bys designated for this purpose. On the road to Val d’Isère, once past Sainte-Foy Tarentaise. you’ll find one of these snow-chain stopping areas at ‘La Raie’.
