Top 5 must-see spots

Despite the temptation to just switch off and enjoy the Alpine mountains in all their beauty, everyone likes to go home with some stunning holiday pics. Read on to discover our top 5 photogenic places in Val d’Isère!

1. The iconic Leissières chairlift for a dizzying experience

Tucked between the Solaise mountains, the Leissières chairlift is an absolute must in Val d’Isère and probably the most popular ski lift on Instagram! Operating between the Solaise and Fornet sectors, this chairlift follows the relief to offer a dizzying descent of the mountainside in both directions.

Top tip: instead of taking photos, opt for a video to get a truly amazing result. Also, for the most sensational experience, take the chairlift from Le Fornet down to Solaise! To reach this iconic spot in the Solaise sector, take the Glaciers chairlift, then go down the ‘Plan Milet’ slope and you’ll see the Leissières chairlift on your right.

2. The Bellevarde summit and its view over the village

Who said the most photogenic spots were the easiest to reach? The Bellevarde summit isn’t exactly at the top of the gondola lift but even higher! To get there, you’ll have to take off your skis and climb to the top of the steps! It’s well worth the effort for the incredible view of Mont Blanc, the village, the Tignes dam, the Grande Sassière and many other summits in the surrounding region.

3. The Fond des Fours refuge and its triangular chalets

Accessible to cross-country skiers, the Fond des Fours refuge is an absolutely magical place, be it summer or winter! The small, triangular wooden chalets blend perfectly into their natural setting against the mountain backdrop. Here, you’re alone in the world, surrounded by an immensity that generates a feel-good sensation like no other. Did you know that you can even stay overnight? A chance to see a truly exceptional sunset! This is the ideal place to snap some beautiful photos.

4. The lost village and its aerie

The Lost Village really is a hidden gem, perfect for photography enthusiasts. Nestling among the majestic larches of the Etroits forest, it has been sustainably designed without any deforesting or levelling work. Larchwood is an exclusive material from the Alps, chosen to ensure the durability of the installations. The Village, which can be reached on skis, is an invitation to admire the enchanting landscapes. The wooden cabins are linked together by walkways and the pure white snow creates a heavenly backdrop to your photos, for an unforgettable souvenir to share on Instagram. Please note: access to the Lost Village on skis is recommended only for intermediate and experienced skiers.

    5. The giant letters of Val d'Isère and their amazing panoramic backdrop

For a memorable and highly effective souvenir, take a pose with the giant letters of VAL D’ISERE. Their red shapes stand out against the blue and white panoramic backdrop, for a fabulous photo with every shot! To get there, take the Olympique gondola lift to the Bellevarde sector, then go down the ‘Colet’ blue slope to the bottom of the Grand Pré chairlift. At the top of the chairlift, you’ll see the giant letters and the majestic mountain peaks in the background.
