Europe’s highest cycling event

L’Iserane offers a unique occasion to cycle the legendary Col de l’Iseran without cars! Privatised for a day, the road winds calmly through breathtaking scenery, to an altitude of 2770m. Seize the opportunity to travel the pass at your own pace!

From 8am to 1pm, all but cycle traffic is prohibited between the Tourist Office roundabout and Bonneval, via the Col de l’Iseran. E-bikes of all sizes are on loan, free of charge (subject to availability), opposite the Tourist Office square. Refreshments await you at the top of the pass.

Ever more cycling enthusiasts take the chance to ride this legendary route. Departing from either Val d’Isère (1850m) or Bonneval sur Arc (1850m), ride with family or friends, or solo against the clock. At the top, several hundred people gather for festive refreshments against a breathtaking backdrop.

For the stoutest of heart, the 60km round trip between Val d’Isère and Bonneval sur Arc. For the most experienced the 17km route (924m vertical) can take under an hour, but you have the whole morning ahead of you.

The D902 is reserved for cyclists from the village of Val d’Isère (1850m), via Europe’s highest road pass (2770m), to Bonneval-sur-Arc (1850m).

Good news: for some years now, e-cyclists have been part of the journey!

The magical feeling of reaching the summit is not just for seasoned athletes.

The electricity fairy helps you climb the pass! You can borrow an electric bike either from Val d’Isère or Bonneval, between 8.30am and 1pm. Warm up with a gentle 5% gradient on the first two kilometres, and then enjoy the assistance as you continue the climb at 7%.

Practical information

  • Open to all cyclists, free registration. Possible without registration: just turn up to the race and start the climb!
  • Participants are welcome from 8:30 a.m. at the Val d’Isère and Bonneval-sur-Arc Tourist Offices. Snacks and entertainment provided.
  • D902 road closed from 8.30am to 1.30pm between Val d’Isère and Bonneval-sur-Arc.
  • At the top, free refreshments and entertainment provided!
  • Cyclists allowed downhill from 10 a.m.
  • Bikes available for hire.
  • From 12.30pm, raffle draw at the Val d’Isère and Bonneval-sur-Arc Tourist Offices.

The Iseran pass, a legendary passage

Since 1937, this road linking the Maurienne and Tarentaise regions has seen several stages of the Tour de France and countless cyclists, motorcyclists and motorists… The Col de l’Iseran is an essential passage on the Route des Grandes Alpes, with a 360° panorama and the Franco-Italian summit of Tsanteleina in the foreground.
