Nowadays, Val d’Isère Le Club has made it much easier for its loyal visitors to prove their commitment to their favorite resort.

Free contest from December 1st, 2024 to November 30th, 2025.

How to play?

1. Tell us about your moments of glory in a few lines (in French or English) on one of the postcards available to you at the Tourist Office.

Simply write a few lines about your moments of glory or your love of Val d’Isère. Your aim is to amaze us, make us laugh or even cry! From sporting achievements to amusing anecdotes, every story is in with a chance of winning!

2. Provide your contact details.
3. “Post” your card in the mailbox located in the entrance to the Val d’Isère Tourist Office.

    Article 1 – Organising Body

    VAL D’ISÈRE TOURISME, a mixed-ownership company governed by a board of directors and listed in the Chambéry Business Register under reference B 388 667 602, whose head office is located at Route de la Balme 73150 VAL D’ISÈRE, (hereinafter known as the “Organising Body”), is organising a free contest, with no obligation to purchase, from 01/12/2024 at 00:01 to 30/11/2025 at 23:59 entitled “Love, Glory & Summits” (“Amour, Gloire & Sommets” in French, hereinafter known as the “Contest”).

     

    Article 2 – Aim

    The Organising Body is organising a free Contest that carries no obligation to purchase, with twelve (12) prizes to be won – one prize per month – each worth a maximum of eighty euros (€80).

    As a reminder, these Contest rules (hereinafter known as the “Rules”) can be consulted at any time, free of charge, under the terms set out in Article 5 herein.

    Twelve (12) winners (hereinafter known as the “Winners”) – one per month – will be selected among all Contest participants having scrupulously observed the participation terms set out hereinafter, following deliberation by a panel of three (3) judges.

    All brand names cited for the Contest are registered trademarks belonging exclusively to their respective owners. Similarly, intellectual property rights and/or product names cited for the Contest belong exclusively to their respective owners. Participation in the Contest shall under no circumstances imply the transfer or concession of licences relating to such intellectual property rights.

     

    Article 3 – Participation

    Participation in the Contest is reserved for natural persons who are over the age of majority as defined by French law (i.e. aged 18 years or above) on the Contest launch date, and who are in possession of a valid email address, with the exception of employees of the Organising Body and its partners, as well as their family members (ascendants, descendants and direct relatives) and their spouses, and any service providers having worked on the Contest organisation, as well as their families (same name and address).

    Participation in the Contest is possible only at VAL D’ISÈRE Tourist Office:

    Anyone who fails to produce full proof of their contact details and/or identity, or who provides false or inaccurate information, will be disqualified, as will any person who refuses the collection, registration or use of nominative information concerning them, which is required for the purpose of conducting the Contest. Personal data provided and collected for the purpose of participation in the Contest will be used for the Contest requirements and to send informative and commercial newsletters.

    Participation in the Contest implies outright acceptance of the Rules, in full, and applicable regulations, as well as French laws and regulations governing free Contests and in force during the Contest period.

    Failure to comply with the participation terms set out in the Rules will result in the immediate and irrevocable invalidity of the participation, and the person having failed to observe the above-mentioned rules shall have no legal right or possible recourse against the Organising Body.

    Furthermore, it is strictly forbidden for a Participant to use more than one set of contact details. Each Participant is only allowed one entry per month.

     

    Article 4 – Principle and Registration Procedure

    The Organising Body invites you to participate in the Contest under the terms set out in the Rules, which define the practical and legal regulations that apply to the Contest.

    To take part in the Contest, the Participant must be in possession of an email address, and only one entry is allowed per month and per person throughout the duration of the Contest. Each Participant must:

    1.       Locate the letterbox in the entrance of VAL D’ISÈRE Tourist Office, located at Place Jacques Mouflier, 73150 VAL D’ISÈRE;

    2.      Write about a moment of glory, on a postcard, in either French or English;

    3.      Fill in their personal details: full name, address, email address and country of origin;

    4.      Tick the box: “I have read and agree to the Contest Rules available on: https://www.valdisere.com/en/contests-and-quizzes/”;

    5.      Tick the box: “I give my express consent to the collection and processing of my personal data”;

    6.      “Post” their duly completed postcard in the letterbox located in VAL D’ISÈRE Tourist Office.

    Any content deemed to be obscene, disagreeable, upsetting, violent, immoral or illicit (abusive, defamatory, calumnious, threatening, an invasion of privacy, an incitation to racial hatred or to discrimination based on a person’s origin, sex, sexual orientation or disability) is forbidden.
    In accordance with Article 3, only one (1) attempt per person is allowed per month.

     

    Article 5 – Publication of the Rules

    The Rules can be consulted directly on the VAL D’ISÈRE website: https://www.valdisere.com/en/contests-and-quizzes/

     

    Article 6 – Prizes

    Twelve (12) prizes – one per month over a one-year period – will be awarded during the Contest from a selection of items that are on sale via the VAL D’ISÈRE website at: https://boutique.valdisere.com/en/goodies.

    Each prize has a maximum market value of eighty euros (€80) and the content of each prize will be at the discretion of the Organising Body.

    Each prize contains only the items described above.

    The Winners may not contest the prizes in question, nor request they be replaced by their equivalent in money or exchanged for any other item.

    The Organising Body reserves the right to substitute prizes, in part or in full, by a different prize of equivalent value, in the event of the announced prize being out of stock, or any other issue beyond the control of the Organising Body.

    If the Winners sell their respective prizes to third parties, the Organising Body declines all responsibility and shall under no circumstances be concerned by such transactions.

    The Winners may under no circumstances request financial compensation.

     

    Article 7 – Allocation of Prizes

    Winners will be named after verification of their eligibility to win.

    Winners will be notified three (3) days from the deliberation at the end of the month, by email at the address indicated on the participation form.

    To receive their prizes, it will be up to the Winners to contact the Organising Body at the latest four (4) days after receiving the email.

    In the event that a Winner does not wish to take possession of their prize, they should inform the Organising Body by email.

    If a Winner does not contact the Organising Body by the above-mentioned deadline, or makes contact after the deadline, the Organising Body will be under no obligation to put the prize back into play. Prizes may under no circumstances be claimed by the Winners at a later date.

    Prizes will be sent by registered post to the addresses provided by the Winners.

     

    Article 8 – Winner Identity Check

    To ensure compliance with the Rules, the Organising Body reserves the right to proceed with whatever verifications it deems necessary to check that the Rules have been properly observed and to confirm the identity of the Winners. Any indication of identity or address that is falsified, fraudulent, false, misleading, incorrect or inaccurate will result in the Participant’s disqualification.

     

    Article 9 – Modification of the Rules

    The Organising Body reserves the right to modify, curtail, prolong or cancel the Contest if circumstances so require. In this event, the Organising Body cannot be held responsible.

    Furthermore, the Organising Body reserves the right to modify the Rules, in part or in full. Any modification to the Rules will be announced on the VAL D’ISÈRE Tourist Office website.

     

    Article 10 – Liability

    The Organising Body shall under no circumstances be held liable if a fortuitous event or a case of force majeure results in the Contest and/or the Rules and related prizes having to be completely or partially changed, cancelled and/or postponed.

    As a general rule, if the Contest is prevented from running smoothly, administratively or technically, for reasons beyond its control, the Organising Body reserves the right to stop the Contest without prior notice.

    Any case of fraud or non-compliance with the Rules may result in the perpetrator being excluded from the Contest, and the Organising Body reserves the right to engage in whatever legal or other proceedings it may deem necessary.

    Any issues arising from the interpretation of the Rules and which are not otherwise provided for herein, will be settled by the Organising Body.

     

    Article 11 – Claims

    Any dispute or claim relating to this Contest must be notified in writing to the following address:

    No request will be taken into account after 31/12/2025.

     

    Article 12 – Lack of Financial Compensation

    No financial compensation or compulsory expenditure of any nature whatsoever can be claimed by Participants on the basis of their participation.

    Refund requests sent by email shall not be taken into account.

     

    Article 13 – Image Reproduction Rights

    The Organising Body will not use images of Participants or their beneficiaries for marketing, advertising or any other purpose.

     

     Article 14 – Personal Data

    Personal data gathered for the Contest is processed by computer for the purpose of registering the participation.

    Personal data that is required for participation in the Contest is marked by an asterisk on the participation form. In the event that a Winner has not provided this mandatory information, their participation cannot be validated and they will not receive the prize mentioned in Article 6 of the Rules.

    Personal data is intended exclusively for the Organising Body, subject to the Participant’s prior consent. The information gathered is saved by the Organising Body in a computer file which feeds its database. Data is stored for a period of three (3) years.

    Each Participant has the right to access, modify, rectify or delete their personal data and/or refuse to receive messages or prospecting material from the Organising Body, by writing to:

    Article 15 – Settlement of Disputes and Prevailing Law

    Any dispute or claim relating to this Contest must be notified in writing to:

    The Rules are subject to French domestic law only, to the exclusion of any international agreement, as is the relationship between the parties to the Rules. French is the prevailing language. In the event of a dispute arising from the Contest, an amicable settlement will be sought. If a settlement cannot be reached, the dispute will be submitted to the Organising Body headquarters’ competent courts, unless public order provisions state otherwise. No opposition will be admissible from thirty (30) days after the end of the Contest.

     

    Article 16 – General Information

    No response will be given to queries (received in writing, by phone or in person) relating to the Contest procedure or methods or to the interpretation or application of the Rules. However, each Participant may, once the Contest is over, be informed of the Winners’ names by sending a written request to the following address:

    In the event of a clause of the Rules being declared null, this will not under any circumstances affect the validity of the Rules overall, nor of any of the other clauses.

Your “sweet words” will be read by a committee of Val d’Isère lovers.

The funniest, most touching and most impressive stories will be rewarded every month.

 

A special gift from Val d’Isère will be sent out to the person who will have written the message that most appealed to our jury.

You will then be contacted by email, check your mailbox…

The mailbox

Before the lifts were installed, reaching the peaks required a lot of effort. Back then, Val d’Isère’s medal-holders had the challenge of scaling the nearby 3 000m+ peaks then skiing back down in order to earn their medal.

These avid hikers and skiers had to prove their achievement by leaving a note in a letterbox installed at the summit.

They were then rewarded with an eagle or star engraved on their medal, depending on wich mountain they had conquered, as proof of their commitment.
